Summer 2012
On the walk up to the Artists' Co-Op Gallery, visitors get a preview of the "local art" that awaits them once they cross the threshold. The mosaic stepping stones along the
sidewalk and in the shadow of the sea life sculptures are, indeed, "local".
Each is a oneof- a-kind stone made on site through the collaborative efforts of the artists who teach, learn and display inside. In late summer 2012, the Oregon Coast Mosaic Artists' Guild [OCMAG] members teamed up as teachers with their cohort artist members of the Artist Studio Association [ASA] and the Pacific Artists' Alliance [PAA]. Together they prepared the glass, made designs, glued them on cement pavers and, lastly, grouted and sealed the stones to make them impervious to the elements. The stones represent favorite coastal themes
and also the friendship and generosity of the artists and merchants who donated their time, talent and materials to create this bright welcome to the Gallery whatever the
weather.
